I do have Norton, and I recently reinstalled it and I may not have removed
the office plug-in so I will check that as well.

Do you have Norton running on your system? If so, check if the Office plug
in under Miscellaneous is checked.

I have found that having it checked causes JAWS to lose focus when a Word
file is opened by clicking on the file. Alt+Tab restores the focus. This
problem does not occur if a file is opened when Word is already open and
also does not occur in other programs like Excel.
