Looks like I'll be coughing up a little for the classic menues add-on, then. Like many, I've been using menues comfortably for --what, maybe fifteen years?-- and I don't see any reason to learn the new format. I'm 43 now and set in my ways. I'm hardly a Luddite, but I'm halfway through the writing of a novel on Word, and the idea of breaking stride in order to acommodate Microsoft's birdbrained notions of progressmakes me want to eat nails. When you work with a given tool for enough time, it becomes an intrinsic part of your art / craft / work, and you get passionate about it when someone starts fiddling with your tools.Am I totally alone in this conviction? --Bill --Bill----- Original Message ----- From: "Soronel Haetir" <soronel.haetir@xxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, January 03, 2010 10:18 AM Subject: Re: Open officeExpect to see more ribbons, the MS development tools are starting to provide support for applications with that style and many developers feel pressure to conform to MS look and feel. I too went looking through the options hoping that ribbons were just the default with menus available. At least when they make changes to the start menu they give you the option of the old look. That sounds great does anyone know how you wouldchange it back the normal way instead of using the damn ribbons? Anotherthing I might add is that I went blind when I was 16 and now I am 20 sobefore office 2007 came out I had a visural idea of whow the normal way ofoffice looked like and when I lost my sight and was tought to learn withJaws. Now I just get compuse. Just out of cureiousoty if someone on this list had sight could they explain visualy what the ribbons look like? Itmight help me. Many Thanks P..s I had an idea maybe if fs could do a kind of webpage in the helptopics of Jaws with microsoft office apps kind of like what's changed andwhat verious things are in catorgies For example if I remember rightbefore 2007 to change the file size you would go to the format option godown arrow once find font hit enter on that tab twice and then you findthe file size then change it to whatever you want and then hit enter. Ohnot forgetting you have to highlight what you want 1st. And anotherexample is thing wear you find out how many pages you are on your documenthow many words etc it wa some wear in tools I think again in 2003. But inoffice 2007 I haven't got a clue! -------------------------------------------------- From: "Chris Smart" <chris_s@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, January 03, 2010 4:28 PM To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: Open officeHi Bill.
