1 gig of ram does sound much better, I actually remember using an old vic 20
when everything was backed up on tape, so maybe I too am an ancient Okie
smile.

Well, she could go back to DOS and JAWS 3.0. That would run on 1 meg of RAM
and have loads of memory to spare. (LOL) What can I say except "Oops!" I

A nice exchange from two always helpful contributors. John, I assume you're
suggesting it should be a gb of RAM? I guess it would help to clarify. All

As a suggestion, go to your computer store and tell them that you *have* to
have XP Home otherwise your screen reader will not work. Most dealers can
put an OEM version of XP Home on your machine without any problem. If this
fails give my dealer, Nanopac a call at (918) 665-0329. I just got a Del
with XP Home installed. Also, take a look at Wal-Mart, they usually carry a
Toshiba which has XP Home on it. Remember that you do not need the most
current, most powerful or largest laptop to do what the vast majority of us
normally do. Anything which approaches 2 ghz for speed will be sufficient.
It does, however in my opinion, need a meg of RAM. HTH, Cy, the Ancient
