Hi Bill,
wow! you know quite aq bit. I have used Jaws with an Alva and the power
braille. For my personal use I do have the Alva satellite series. You hit
the point. There are times when I want to use the braille display only. With
Jaws I can do this. With Window-eyes everytime I advance to the next 44
letters window-eyes will talk. It drives me crazy! At least with Jaws the
times I want to use the braille display to read e-mail, or entire documents,
I can do this with the braille display, and Jaws will not talk at all while
I use the braille display. If Window-eyes could do that I would probably
switch because again Window-eyes does seem to do a much better job of
working on the internet than Jaws. Lately I have noticed a trend with jaws.
Here is an example. If I go to www.deankoontz.com, and I want to read an
excerpt from one of his books, Jaws for some reason starts to act weird!
Sometimes it will read part of a line and just stop speaking in the middle
of a word. I can't even use the braille display at this point. If I press
the down arrow sometimes I have to wait a long time before Jaws will speak.
Sometimes Jaws won't even speak. Another website that this happens is
www.paypal.com. I have to switch to Window-eyes to finish setting up an
account.
