If you are willing to sacrifice some features and MS-Office compatibility, I
would suggest Abiword. Its lighter and faster than OO Writer. I would
personally prefer LyX, though.
Firefox - 15 seconds
You dont have much of a choice here. Yes, there's Opera 7 which is
lighter than firefox (and faster too). But I'm afraid that you will miss
some of the cool features of firefox. Earlier posts do talk about other lean
web browsers worth exploring.
