Is ext3 less performing, less mature and slow than the other two?
I have 2 servers with NIS+NFS(ext3). Performance is NOT bad. One
serves nearly 15 users and another serves nearly 25 users.
What about say 75(min) users with 500M/user + a NFS directory with standard
shared software installations like /software having various versions of jdk,
netbeans, eclipse.
Further, ext3 checks the filesystem once every specific number of days or
mounts. Checking a 76G scsi u320 disk with lots of small files will take
long.
Have you ever faced this problem? For some reason, you either reboot your
server or remount your partition after a long time and the fsck starts. Can
i disable (with tune2fs) such fsck if I know for sure that my filesystem is
OK ? If i disable it, will it affect an ext3 filesystem integrity?
