well I couldn't resist looking into this just a little further.
The journal script does start to replay but seems to get
confused when calling another script. That is where it
doesn't seem to be able to get to the Stack up form.

I'll follow up with Cadence on this and let everyone know
what I find out. The "journal conversion to script" is a great
tool to have.

Has anyone else had this problem?

yes, I did that.
I have the setting enabled that creates backup
copies of everything too. The script just didn't work.
I'm running 15.5.1. We were able to convert
a journal file into a script once but it took a lot
of hand editing. That was about a year ago.
Also, right after my Allegro session crapped out on me another
window program crapped out so I rebooted my machine. So this may
not have been an Allegro software fault.
Good news is I am back to my last point and I have saved the board file and
journal
file away so I can submit to Cadence after I am finished with my
fire drill here.

You have to grab the jrl file BEFORE you open another
Session of Allegro, if you open Allegro prior to copying
The jrl file the whole thing gets overwritten.

Well I just happened to loose almost 30 minutes of
intense hand editing....
I tried the script generate command, created the script,
executed it,,, and it did NOT work.
I get this Error.
E- Command not found: FORM cvf_main class_list Stack-Up.
Fun huh?
I am running 15.5.1.

From the File pulldown menu select Script and from the Scripting form
select the Generate
button to select the .jrl file. This will create a .scr file from the
journal file and fill its name
in the script name field so all you will need to do is click the Reply
button.

I have had great success with this. Good luck

Just crashed out of Windows and have a preserved .jrl file,
is
there
a utility other than editing
the .jrl file to recover my lost work? In the past I have
edited a
saved jrl file and read it in as
a script to recover any loss.

             thanks,
