How do you get to believe that (even though it's definitely a possibility, as Intel likes to do stuff like that, for whatever stupid reason)?
Well, i came accross it in the sources of the Xorg Driver and tried it. Since it *seemed* to work, and it booted without fail.
I have spent many hours researching and experimenting with Graphics Drivers, Drivers in General, and how Intel implements their onboard graphics. I guess i may have jumped the gun with the patch when the driver and my knowledge had shown progress.
What i am doing now is installing (quad booting) FreeBSD onto my laptop right now, and it seems to have slight problems with the Driver. FreeBSD's AGP kernel module is allocating the resources, but there is a problem with X Freezing. Once i sort out this problem (I'll have to update the driver) i'll get back to *trying* to hack the intel_extreme driver.
PS: It's a slow process, but eventually i'll be experienced enuff to actually help out in the driver realm ;). In the mean time i'm sure someone else will come up with the goods.
