Yeah, that driver really sucks. Why don't you try to fix it, or update it? 

It doesn't suck that much -- it's quite nicely put together :).

I tried updating the sources to the latest FreeBSD version, but i did
come into a few little difficulties. (I have the main two things
required written down somewhere...). Anyway, Since i have a 3-day
weekend i guess i'll try again :).
