[haiku] GSoC: Writing native interfaces for ported applications

Hi all,
I read a project idea a couple of weeks back about writing native interfaces
for VLC and Transmission, and was wondering whether that's still on the
table?
I'm not much of a fan of ported applications, but these two are good
exceptions, and as VLC has been ported to so many systems,
it definitely deserves a breath of fresh air.
If any other programs deserve or require such treatment, then so be it!
Anyway, that's my question...
