Things like categorized views (sorting messages) can create these. But
other factors as well. At one time, more people were complaining about
these delayed messagse, come to find out people started using desktop
search engines such as google desktop which were creating additional
overhead and latency for all users. I noticed alot of traffic coming
from particular boxes and then noticed that these users had this app
installed. It took only 20 users running this app to increase our
store.exe baseline to 15-20%. We ended up putting GPO to block all
desktop search engines. But again, alot of factors could contribute to
this like you said larger mailboxes or other perf bottlenecks, network
issues etc.

Hello all,

We have the same issue, but in our setup, we keep all the mail on the
server and have pretty large mailboxes. I am thinking that this message
is due to exchange swapping parts of the store in and out of memory as
it tries to figue out what is needed as people scroll through their
mail.... Any thoughts?

I must agree, this has been a subject of discussion. I did see some
event logs which referred to the NIC, I downloaded the latest drivers ad
have installed them. Due to the time between problems this has not been
conclusive. The trouble with it happening over the weekend mostly it has
been difficult to identify log errors that apply to this issue.

I have other tasks to comply to from other answers to this issue which I
will carry out next week and reply when I have some results.

Many thanks for the response so far. To date it has not been a problem.
Let's wait till Monday!!!

DAVE

It sounds like a Network issue I would try just to disable the nics and
the enable and see if you have connection restore, could be bad NIC card
or switch port hug up.

We have 3 backend exchange servers (no frontend). Due to other issues
all but 5 users are on 1 server (approx 450 but only approx 150 active)
2nd server has the other 5 users. The 3rd acts as an archieve for all
emails.

Approx once every 2 weeks users see "Outlook is requesting Data".
Processors are normal, nothing being reported in the logs but a reboot
of the main server sorts the problem. Upto this last 2 weeks, if this
occured it was mostly on a Monday but this last 2 weeks it has happened
on a Tuesday and today (Thursday).

Any thoughts.

David Iles
