In Exchange 5.5 the default addressing uses 3 formats

MSMAIL
SMTP
X400

You may disable MSMAIL. You must keep X400 and SMTP. The default SMTP
domain name is @site.domain.com.

Raj, Just try to understand more there. What is the Exchange
internal addressing method or default method being used within Exchange
organization?

Exchange organization has nothing to do with the SMTP domain
name.

Make sure your MX records are updated in the DNS servers are
updated.

Exchange server name has no impact on site addressing.

Only the site addressing decides the email address stamping for
the recipients.

Check you Exchange IMS connector to make sure it is configured
to receive mails for the new xxxxx.com domain. You can verify this in
the Routing tab. If the new domain name is not yet added, add it and set
to Inbound.

Thanks for the quick reply. Except change all site
addressing for each site, do we have to change all TCP/IP configurations
for all NT and Exchange servers using the new DNS defined for the new
xxx.com domain? Does the Exchange Organization name, Exchange server
name have anything to do with Exchange addressing? Or only the site
addresses are really matters?

                Thanks.

You just need to change the SMTP addresses for these
users. You can do this by going to Site | Configuration | Site
Addressing in the Exchange admin. Edit the SMTP address and change the
domain part. this will update all recipients automatically. You have to
do this each site.

                        http://www.MSExchange.org/

Hi Experts, What about this one?

I have a customer who wants to change the domain
name in their Email system from abc.com to xxx.com due to the name
change of the company. They have a very large Exchange 5.5/Windows NT4
implementation. I know that a new DNS infrastructure can be built to
support XXX.COM. But I don't know if it is possible to simply replace
the domain name in the Exchange system without rebuilding the entire
Windows NT/Exchange system?? If it is possible, what steps that we need
to go though?

                        Thanks. -LiMing
