I've had phenomenal luck with my Telesensory VersaPoint for over 30 years. It
was a free replacement for a pretty terrible, short-lived, embosser called the
MBoss. Guess they were feeling guilty.
Except for replacing the fuse, I hadn't had any trouble with it at all until
about 8-10 years ago with it missing dots. I thought, awww... It's not like it
owed me anything at this point. I figured it was a solenoid or a wire to it. Of
course, TSI, was long gone, and no one would service it.
My buddy at TSI (retired 10 years) suggested I take it apart. With him on the
phone, holding my breath the whole time, I did. It wasn't a solenoid at all. It
was under the solenoid panel, jammed with a spec of rock-hard paper! Tweezers,
a can of air, an hour, and two pounds of perspiration later, and everything
worked perfectly again. Go figure.
If you do choose to get a used VersaPoint, make sure it's from TSI. It will be
on the cover. It's important to have the cover because it has a powerful magnet
in it that triggers the embosser. It's really good quality braille.

I was afraid of that. Thanks.

Diane:
I have a Juliet Pro 60 myself. I have had it for about three years and have not
had any problems with it. But as soon as funds become available, I am going to
have it in the shop for cleaning. I cannot elaborate on the other embossers,
but as far as finding another embosser that is less expensive, good luck. As we
all know, when you put “adaptive” before any item, the price goes up
exponentially.

Subject: [duxuser] Braille Embossers
Hi Everyone,
Once again some of the dots on my Juliet Pro 60 are no longer printing. If I
decide to return it to Enabling Technologies for repair, this will be the third
time in around 6 years. It has been less than a year since I received it back
from the shop last time. I'm seriously considering not bothering to return it.
Does anyone have any experience with the Juliet 120 wireless interpoint
embosser? Also, can anyone recommend an interpoint embosser that might be less
expensive and more reliable? All help appreciated. Thanks.
Diane
