[ddots-l] more soft synth questions

Hello:
I have two questions about soft synth insertions.
1. What is the difference between inserting a soft synth by going to alt I,
then inserting it that way, or if you rout jaws to pc on a midi track, then
insert an audio track, and then insert the soft synth as an effect in the
effects bin of the audio track?
2. When I insert a soft synth, do I need to go to the midi track assigned to
the soft synth and assign it to a midi channel?
