I use a USB full-size keyboard with my laptop. Most of these have the insert
key directly across the gap right of the backspace key.

It depends of wich model of laptop you've got. The keyboard layout is not
the same from model to model.
Sorry but I'm not good at laptops, so I can't help you more than that, but
I'm sure someone else on this list know the specific keystroke to your
laptop keyboard.
