I must say, I've never used Maplins's web site, always either purchased from their shops or buy phone. I always found the staff to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable on all kinds of electronics. I needed a Swann attachment for my microphone stand so I could tilt my Shure SH55 Classic 1950's microphone in the same way that Jerry Lee Lewis use too. The music shops didn't have a clue as what I was asking for, however, the guys at Maplins knew straight away plus, I expected the Swann attachment to be around £15 and in fact it was only somewhere around £3. It was these same guys that sorted out the solution regarding the noise I was getting from the lap top by suggesting trying a Ground Loop Isolator. I'm pleased you pointed out the problem with the web site, as I won't be tempted to use it now. Hope the Rush project is going well. Hi, Be warned that I had a bad experience on Maplin's site about a year ago. I placed quite a large order and submitted it, but was told that the order could not be processed and I should try again. This happened three times before I gave up. The next day I found that I'd crashed my trading account because all of the orders had, in fact, been processed. Don't get me wrong, Maplins are a reputable company and sorted out the problem very quickly, but I've placed my orders via their phone line since. Best wishes. It doesn't plug in to the wall or anything like that, it simply has two male phonos on a short cable which is attached to a barrel about the size of a coke can you get on a plain, at the other end of the barrel is another cable with female phonos. The thing about lap tops is, Some of the circuitry is not insulated that well which can caurse audio noyce. Tthis happens even on expensive lap tops as they are not quite as inserlated as say a PC. It was a high noice I was getting on my lap top, it also would disappear when using the battery power. I simply plut the male phonos from the Ground Loop Iserlater into the audio outs on my Fast Track Pro Sound card then plug the audio cables that go to my mixer into the female phonos on the Ground loop iserlater.
