Lots of stuff under £150 is 24bit. Its actually quite common in mid
range kit nowadays.
Was wondering about jack, I have heard of it but not used it. Dont know
much about it. Can I get it to drop the bitrate to 16? Be great if you
could point me in the correct direction for this.
Hello Ben, not much of an expert here; just happy with a 16bit AD, it makes recording much more forgiving than 8bits would. Also happy with jackd and a realtime pipline that does multi-band-compression, delays to bring inputs into the same time, nice meters, etc.
Still, maybe some alsa /foo/ can help you - no need for jack-audio - the correct .asoundrc lines though, I cannot tell by heart.
