USB stick could take significant resources. You might try another USB
storage
(i.e. a real USB disk) for test to make shure that i.e. the USB Sticks wear
leveling is not blocking to long. I remember similiar problems in
measurement
devices where USB flash storage was not able to take more then some hours
of
writing...
