Fake/Joke Viruses

Joke viruses are interesting to me. For the most part they do no harm to your
computer. They are around to just scare people. Lets take JUCool joke, for
instance, discovered on January 1, 1997.

This is not a virus at all. The file is 'Windows 3.1 NE EXE file' and when run
it asks you for your first and last name. Then it displays a countdown to
format the hard drive. When the curser gets near the cancel button, the button
moves away. When the countdown reaches zero it does no harm and displays the
message "Just Kidding..."

There are many fake/joke viruses around, most of them harmless. Some fake/joke
viruses can be difficult to get rid of because anti-virus programs do not
detect them as a virus.
