Mathe, Ann and all,
You could not know how your messages have affected me. On December 15 of
2007, my mother passed away suddenly. Twelve days later, so did my
grandmother, my mother's mother. She had always been like a mother to me as
well, raising me along with my mom because my dad died when I was two.
Mathe, I am sorry for your loss. Know that you are not alone.

Yes, it is difficult to lose a parent. My mother said, after my
grandfather died that it was as if the earth trembled for her. Having
lost both parents, I know about grieving firsthand.
<sigh> One of the things I have found is that this particular society is
unmindful of the needs of those who grieve. we used to be, but aren't any
longer.
Used to be one would wear black for a year to signify that you were in in
mourning. This gave you license for behavior which wouldn't be condoned
under other circumstances.
Maithe, if you're reading this, don't be surprised at anything that may
happen to you in the next few weeks and months. My short term memory went
to Hell in a handbasket when my dad died. I couldn't remember what people
said to me five minutes ago. And the weirdest things can set you off,
either to weep or to be angry. Grief is a very private and personal
thing, and it affects each person differently depending on the person
grieving and for whom they grieve.
