Even in losing a beloved dog, I just kept crying and crying when I knew Judson was retiring. I know it isn't the same, but when you work with a dog for 7 years, living and working, snuggling playing, healing, being sick, and exploring and expanding together, well it was darn hard. Smile, and I still think of him. I know it is going to be truly aweful when he has to go to the Rainbow Bridge. I thought I had it pretty under control, after all I had three months to think about it, decide it, and work through it, but... man, the day I got into that cab without my dog, and the driver asked me where Judson was.. and the dispatcher wishing me luck on my next dog, I just lot it then and there. And that is a hard thing for me as I don't cry in public, not very easy to do, being teased as a child about it, I don't show emotion if I can help it. Am learning to cry again, it is hard, smile. But... that trip out to oregon has been the loniest trip I have ever taken in my life, and I felt well whole again once I had a dog leash in my hand and my Guinevere on the other end. I know it isn't the same, but grief is the same I think. Grief is a hard thing to work with and through, and do we truly ever ever get over it? I don't think so sometimes. Shelley L.
