Dave - Before investing in any telecoil-based solution, be sure that the telephone pickups in your aids don't pick up a lot of stray radiations that can interfere with listening and get on your nerves. Also, if buying two aids, some dealers might not sell you telecoils in both aids unless you are clear in specifying that you want them--they usually cost extra, so the dealers tend to ask which ear you use for the phone and then, supply a telecoil only in the aid for that ear. My personal preference is to not use the telecoils when listening to audio. I can still get good results from headphones without my aids and if I listen for a long time, perspiration can build up under the headphones and I work as hard as I can to keep perspiration and any other moisture away from my aids. Also, if I am going to wear the aids, I prefer having them turned on normally so that if someone attempts to speak to me, I can hear them more readily. It's all in what's most comfortable, physically and psychically, for you. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Allen" <wd8ldy@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, November 05, 2005 8:15 PM Subject: [bookport] Re: Speakers and ear buds Hi Aman and list: Thanks for all the info.
