Hi all --
I know this is a new list so there may not be many members yet, but I have a
question.
I recently bought a Millenium (new) and a much cheaper braille lite (used)
to compare, and need to decide which to part with as I can't really afford
to
keep both. It's approaching the deadline to make my decision and I want
advice from other users.

This is my first exposure to this type of device, and I'm finding them very
handy. I'm finding it's really nice to be able to take notes when I go
places -- especially to boring meetings where I might otherwise fall
asleep...:)

Pros and cons of the 2 units I have:
Of course, there's the price -- over $5000 vs $2000. That's a big
difference, but could be worth it if the Millenium has enough benefits.
The Millenium has a 1 year warrantee and the braille lite has a 6 month
warrantee.
The Millenium has much clearer speech but since I bought the notetaker to
take notes in meetings, I'm finding I have speech turned off most the time.

Both the units work, although some of the pins on the braille lite stick up
now and then and need to be pushed down.
Also, the #2 dot key on the Millenium seems not to work all the time. I
type a line and notice 2 or 3 characters with the 2 dot missing.

The Millenium has features that the b.l. doesn't have, such as POP3 email
support, but to be honest, I
don't think I'd use the modem and email feature of the Millenium as I prefer
reading email on my laptop.

I like the "wiz wheels" on the Millenium, but they aren't really necessary.
The Millenium came with a nice carrying case with a shoulder strap, which I
find is a major benefit in keeping it safe when I'm travelling. I called to
ask if I could get a case for the braille lite, but there is none available.
Of course, for the $3000 price difference I'm sure I could find another way
of getting a cheap case made for the b.l., but the little things do make the
Millenium hard to part with.

I haven't tried the many other little features such as timer and macros etc,
and am not really sure what I may find useful in the future. My main
motivation for getting a notetaker in the first place was to take notes in
meetings and write in my journal in the car or wherever. For this reason,
the Millenium's ability to use flash memory cards is a plus, in the event I
run out of memory.

I guess I'm looking for other notetaker users to give me some advice.
I know keeping both would be much too expensive and not worth the benefit of
having a backup unit.

Comments welcome!!!
Thanx!!!
