Hey evan, How long do you plan to be on the market? I think I've got a couple of quick-rich schemes that might get you some return on your investment before your long-lived life decides to give up the ghost. ----- Original Message ----- From: Evan Reese <mailto:mentat1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, September 20, 2007 4:52 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: yes, let's get tough. Well, I know I'll be changing my practices. Now that the rates have gone up, I'm going to try and validate as many books as possible because I'm in the market for a house, and I'm going to try to use my Bookshare credits as collateral for the mortgage. <grin> Evan ----- Original Message ----- From: mickey <mailto:micka@xxxxxxxxxx> To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, September 20, 2007 2:46 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: yes, let's get tough. I think I'll do pretty much the same job I've always done, because I think all of us are doing our best. I don't know that we should change our criteria for accepting or rejecting a book. We validators work hard to make the best product we can. Because we've changed our rate of pay, I don't quite understand what that has to do with the scanners. Maybe I'm missing something. I don't get it; why do you think validators should get tougher because they are now being paid more? Don't mean to be dense, but don't get it. Hi listers, Since bookshare has seen fit to raise credit for validators, we should get tough. I was just up on the step one page, and the first two books I looked at, were shown to be fair with many errors. My suggestion is this. If you know a book is fair with many errors, why are you submitting it at all? If I get a book like that, chances are, I'm likely to reject it. If you can't check your scans, clean them up and make them good, then don't do it. Sure, I have submitted books that weren't good, and I had to learn a lot of things, and I understand that. When you first start out you mess up. I understand that, but come on, some of these books weren't submitted by new folks just learning. We all have to do the best scans we can, it is up to us, and no one else.
