[bksvol-discuss] Re: tables in Bookshare books plus another question

Yes, in the case of the book I'm doing I think the author just wanted to
have tables for the sake of looking authoritative or something. They add
nothing. G. Cindy was kind enough to send me an off-list email with good
instructions about how to read through a table so that it makes sense in
sentences. In the case of this book, however, I am making an editorial
decision not to bother with the tables. As you said, Bob, they don't add
a thing.

I don't know what others might think, but I'd rather keep tables out of
books as much as possible. The only purpose I see for tables is to
present
data in a tabular manner, such as calendars, charts etc. Even then, it
looks
like the bookshare tools destroys them anyway.

Sometimes tables are used to make information stand out in a book. In
Braille and speech they don't stand out, they just look strange.

Just my thoughts.
Bob
