Consider me strange, perhaps, but I don't mind hearing those occasional
garbage strings (indicating a new page) when listening to text.
It helps me keep track to where I am -- no different than hand turning a
book page by page.
I doubt most print readers complain that the books they read require hand
motions to move forward through the book.
At most, these garbled strings, when they occur, take a second or so so it
hardly slows down listening speed.
