Ann, being a fast validator doesn't mean one isn't careful. I'm sighted, so I can read a high quality scan much faster than it can be read out loud by a screen reader, depending on how well my voice-driven software is working to help me traverse the book. I took several courses in advanced speed-reading techniques way back in college to help me increase my reading speed without loss of comprehension. I read every single work of every book that I validate. A scan that isn't so good.. chuckle... that takes considerably longer no matter how fast I can read! smile.

Hi all,

I just have a quick question. I notice that occasionally there will be an announcement of a book being placed on the Step 1 list, and then, it seems like only two hours later it's been approved. Either we've got a pack of really fast validators, or I'm doing something wrong? I figure it's my job to read whatever I validate because I'd feel awful if I only read twenty-five pages and there was some huge mix-up further on in the book. Am I being too careful?
