We had another amazing 47 specie weekend here. We counted 7 sparrow species, including FOS White-throated, both Kinglets, including FOS Golden-crowned, 5 Woodpeckers, including a Hairy and a lovely male YB Sapsucker and 2 Warblers. We counted the first Grackle since August and the first Waxwings.since I don't know when. Suddenly Crows are all around, after being absent since spring. I lost count ~30 in one flock yesterday. Also, Killdeer are suddenly plentiful, with a flyover flock of ~15 this afternoon. I posted a digiscoped photo of the Shrike, taken just as the fog was clearing this morning (http://www.flickr.com/photos/91780057@N05/10659638576/). It was a great weekend overall, but one certain highlight happened today, about 45 minutes before sunset. I was sitting near the thicket, quietly watching sparrows when a covey of Bobwhites flew in and landed pretty much all round me. I couldn't count them, but estimate that there were at least 10. As soon as they landed, they started calling and talking among themselves. It was fun to be close enough to hear that.
