Make that 53 species! A Cormorant flew overhead, later in the evening.
Also, we counted five Barn Owls last evening.  What fun!  We managed to get 
three of them in the same photo, which I included in yesterday’s eBird list, 
linked below.

We counted 52 species, here, this weekend.  That matches last years 
best-ever number for this late-June weekend.  My notes from last year 
complained about a stiff wind both days and I could have copied much of that 
and pasted it here.  It was hot and windy again, which made birding tough.
The only real highlight was the four Barn Owls that we counted last evening.  
We’d seen two at a time through the week and thought we might be hearing 
others but, because they move around so much, we weren’t sure.  In the dim 
light it’s hard to tell which are the juveniles and which are adults, but 
they all seem pretty confident on the wing.  One landed on a low utility wire 
while the other three perched in an open-branched pine tree, where they were 
plainly visible through binoculars and scope.  I included a few photos in 
yesterday’s eBird report that I linked to, below.
