We counted 37 species here, this weekend.  It seemed like a good count until I 
found our list from 2018, which had 43.  
Yesterday was another washout, until about 2:00 when I was able to get out and 
salvage a bit of the day.  Really, the only highlight for the day came in the 
morning, when we noticed a white speck in the wintering alfalfa directly south 
of the house.  We usually find these to be a fertilizer bag, or a bit of bale 
wrap, but, this time, we found the leucistic Red-tail literally scampering 
around on the ground, stopping here and there to pick up something.  We scoped 
it through the rain-streaked window.  It was out there for at least an hour in 
the morning, then again in the afternoon.  I finally decided that it must have 
been picking up earthworms that were flushed to the surface by the latest 
deluge.  I managed a few poor photos (it was 600+ yards away), one of which I 
Flickr posted.  
The only other highlight was our first Horned Larks since last spring.  I found 
them in the south field soybean stubble, this morning.  Back when it used to 
snow in Kentucky, I’d find Larks on the roads near the house, after a storm…but 
snow has been rare and so have been our Lark sightings.
I also included links to photos of a Red-tail pair that have staked out a 
territory NE of the house and a Cedar Waxwing that was among 5 that visited 
this afternoon, probably to raid the holly bushes.
