We counted 56 species this weekend, which is our highest ever for a late 
September weekend.  We finally managed some Warblers, with 7 for the weekend, 
including FOS Tennessee, Palm Warblers and our first Northern Parula for the 
year.  We counted a Peregrine Falcon, which I reported this morning (our fourth 
record in 15 years here), and a FOY White-eyed Vireo.  A FOS Rose-breasted 
Grosbeak and two flyover FOS Pipits rounded out our firsts.   
eBird continues to challenge my Cliff Swallow entries!?  Most of the Swallows 
that are overhead, now, are Trees and Barns (23 Barns today).
Twice this weekend I got short videos of Warblers preening after dew baths – 
Flickr links below.  The birds seem to be drawn to the heavy morning dew, in 
the dense foliage of the old pond depression, during these dreadfully dry days. 
 
Our autumn pattern of loitering Bluebirds being followed by a loose gang of 
feathered “groupies” is firmly in place.  This evening, there were two Chipping 
Sparrows, two Yellow-throated and at least two Palm Warblers, tagging along.
