We counted 58 species here, this weekend; 50 yesterday and 51 today.  The 
weather wasn’t helpful, but that’s been the story this year.
We finally spotted a small flock of Bobolinks, over the back grain field, 
yesterday morning…I’d finally decided that they must have passed us by.  There 
have been Blackpolls and Redstarts around, all week.  Several Redstarts were 
calling constantly, in the pond thicket, this morning.
We’ve had a single female Purple Finch, for two weeks.  We also still have, at 
least, 4 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, which are feeding heavily on black oil 
sunflower.  I opened the window, today, trained the scope on the bottle feeder 
and got Purple Finch and Grosbeak photos – Flickr links follow.
We often see Redheaded Woodpeckers in the nearby woodlot, but they’ve been 
visiting our suet, regularly, for the last few days.  We’re not sure what’s up 
with that.   
We counted only two species of Sparrow.  This is the first list since 
mid-October with no White-crowns… that season has passed!
