We had a great birding weekend here after some weather dampened low-count 
weekends.  We counted 45 species, with 43 of them in today’s sunshine.  45 is 
our best count ever for this weekend in March.
We’re still missing a Thrasher, but our Tree Swallows finally showed up and are 
acting like they will stay (photo link below).  The first one I saw is the 
gap-tailed male that has nested here for the last two years.  I also counted a 
Palm Warbler, which seems very early…or very, very, late.  It was nowhere near 
the Bluebirds, which is usually where I find them in the fall.  I counted our 
FOS Wood Duck this morning.
We tallied 8 Sparrow species, with a rare glimpse of a single Junco, this 
morning, a pair of Savannas in the garden, yesterday, and a singing Field, in 
the pond thicket, this morning.   
We’ve been leaving cracked corn and sunflower seed, on the rocks, for the 
Harris’s and others and have been noticing that we’re using a LOT of it, 
lately.  It turns out that our bird feed may be feeding the Owls, indirectly -
