We counted 52 species this weekend, which is up from last week, but just short
of last year’s 53.  I saw our FOS Black-throated Green Warbler, yesterday, and
Ruby-crowned Kinglet and Lincoln’s Sparrows, this morning.  Warbler numbers are
really dwindling.   Tennessees the most abundant of the few, this weekend.
This the third consecutive weekend that we’ve counted a White-eyed Vireo!  The
pond thicket apparently really suits them.
This is the first list, since late July, that doesn’t include a Gnatcatcher and
the first since spring with no Pewee.  Our Red-headed Woodpeckers must have
found sweeter acorns somewhere else, because they were completely missing this
weekend.
Oddly, after a number of weeks of almost no swallow activity, there were many
here, especially today (50+).  I confirmed only Rough-winged and Tree, but
suspect there were others among them.
The Harriers are back in numbers now.  I saw two together, today.
Late this afternoon, the Shrike was hunting from the same snag as last Sunday
(across the road).
I Flickr posted photos of a male Rose-breasted Grosbeak, taken this morning,
and a juvenile Dickcissel, taken this afternoon.
