We counted 37 species this weekend.  That’s one less than the comparable 
weekend last year, so, after some off-weeks, we’re back up where we should be.  
Other than the Merlin, the first Towhee and Meadowlark in months were definite 
highlights.  
The Red-wings have staked their claims here and the Bluebirds were singing, on 
this 65 degree morning, like they think it’s April.  I came across a garter 
snake that was out and about, yesterday, while fertilizing trees and, this 
morning, Debby and I watched a groundhog investigating the south yard.  It 
seems that everybody is confused.
