We counted 44 species this weekend, which is pretty respectable but 3 below
last year’s high for the weekend.  We counted 9 sparrow species, including FOS
Vesper, Savannah and Dark-eyed Junco.  I did not dig through my records, but I
think 9 is our high Sparrow count here.  The Shrike was around yesterday and
again today, when we watched it chasing Song Sparrows in the bush garden.  It
was good to see 8-10 Cedar Waxwings, hurrying here and there, several times.
We continue to see Sapsuckers every weekend, which is unprecedented here.
There are still good numbers of Yellow-rumped Warblers around, though I only
saw two Palms.  I posted a photo of the Vesper Sparrow to Flickr – link follows.
