Interesting Reg.

The person who wrote the doc is in Paris but writing in English (as the=
ir
second language) which probably explains why the symbol appeared as "8
million =3D80". My first reaction was to put the symbol before the amou=
nt (as
per Michael's instructions).

I'm not trying for an english language document for an audience in fran=
ce,
rather, an english language document applicable globally. You've specif=
ied
that this is the standard for France and all EU countries but do you al=
so
mean for it to apply to the "rest of the world"?

Now I'm confused. :o)

Thanks,
Erica.

Hello Erica,
The correct placement of the Euro symbol, in French, is AFTER the
numbers, eg
80.45=3D80 or if you don't have the symbol, 80.45Eu.=3D20

I think this is correct for all EU countries, even those whose currency=

symbol prior to 2001 was before the numbers, but I am not sure about
that.

On my keyboard, which is set up as US International, Standard French,
the key combination RtAlt-5 calls up the symbol. The 5 is is above the =
R
and T, not on the numeric pad. I had to download the euro TT font in
2000, to make this work, but I think any O/S produced since then
includes the font.
