That's undoubtedly what you'd want to do in the long run, when the system got big enough to carry passengers -- people are so impatient. :-) But a load of powersat parts doesn't *care* if it spends two weeks in transit. The important thing is not how fast the climbers move, but how often they depart -- nobody is going to build a beanstalk that can only carry one climber at a time.
