That said, I believe putting it closer makes dynamics and attachment
both a little better...
If (dim) memory serves, for a non-equatorial anchor point, the cable
follows an interesting curve, initial deployment becomes very tricky, and
there's a sizable side load on the anchor (which is problematic for a
floating anchor platform in particular). Not ridiculous but it does add
complications.
