Not necessarily. It is possible to over-engineer something so it has a
MTTF much much more than required such that it contributes nothing to
increasing the reliability of the overall system.

see car manufacture:

VW Beetles would run for ever ( well, there were those items
that had all the luck and good parts to run 100..200k miles and more.
But you also had those Monday lemons that didn't make it away
from the dealers place without break down )

todays products homogenously fall apart after their design life is over. ( well a bit overstated perhaps.)
