Just a possible ignition source clue is all I'm saying . The frame grab is at
1:12 in the original video posted. The is a definite downward spike visible
below the outgassing ball. But it is the ball that rapidly expands to consume
the rocket. I think we can agree it appears to involve & start with stage 2.
The "disassembly" appears to run top to bottom.

Dave,
But the thing is that liquid air won't burn air, you need fuel, oxidizer, and
ignition source to get combustion. And to get an explosion powerful enough to
shred the rocket, it seems like it needs a decent amount of confinement
too... An external combustion event doesn't seem like it would be likely to
do that, but maybe my intuition is off.

An early frame grab at 1:12 shows a jet running vertically down the
exterior. Liquid air in combustion? Funny recent topics here were on liquid
air condensation challenges.

A downloadable copy of 1:10 to 4:10 is here. If you play it back in VLC,
you can adjust the audio track by -12.2 seconds with tools-track
synchronization to make the audio and video synch up. The explosion starts
at 00:02 in this trimmed clip.
