I don't know what happens to the used 56k modems over here when people
upgrade.
Possibly they go back to the dealers as trade-ins, and the dealers would
then destroy them so they can sell new external ones for $99 or internal
PnP ones for $30 (actual Australian prices I found about 2 months ago).
Certainly there don't seem to be ANY secondhand modems on sale anywhere
around here.
