Well, I have learned that in computers, there are limits imposed by the
hardware and those imposed by the software. There is not much one can do
about the hardware limits, but the programmer should do his best to
ensure that he does not place additional constraints.
In this case, I do not see any relation between the smooth scrolling
limit in Arachne and a similar limitation of the hardware, so it is
probably an artificial limit that should at least be configurable, or
preferably be disposed of entirely.
