Hi Darlene,

When I do dog collars, I use a regular hoop. First hoop a very heavy
tearaway (without the collar), then stitch an outline of the collar on the
tearaway, using masking tape - tape the collar on the backing using the
outline for alignment. I tape just barely along the top and bottom edges of
the collar, tape the ends of the collar down on the hoop, tape buckles down
- all to make sure nothing flaps around that could get caught. I despise
the adhesive backing, as I believe it has caused me great headaches!

When I do use the adhesive backing, I float a layer of tearaway or wax paper
below the adhesive backing and the needle plate. Also, use solvy or wax
paper on top. All of this to hopefully help the needle and bobbin area from
getting gummy.

Also, slow the speed down and make sure pressure foot height is correct.

Not sure this really answered your questions.

Subject: [amayausers] Dog Collars

I need some advice.

I am trying to stitch names and phone numbers on dog collars for a
customer.

I am using the fast frame sleeve frame with tacky backing. The collars
are for larger dogs, so they are about 1" wide but are about 1'8" thick. I
have set the thickness on manual at 16. The thread keeps breaking after a
couple of stitches.

Can anyone give me some suggestions???
  Please!
  Thanks!
