[amayausers] Re: Dog Collars

Here's my thoughts...
1) use the largest needle size you have...those woven webbelts
are dense and would be hard to push a thin needle through. (If that's
the type of collar)
2) use auto density on a test and see where it sets the density-
I know on hats, before auto density-I was running much higher than
16-to keep thread from breaking. With auto density I let the machine
pick it.
3)slow down stitch speed-start around 600 and see if you can get
rid of the thread breaks by changing needle, density...then gradually
raise the speed.
4) if the adhesive backing isn't helping-and you have only the fast
frame and not the speed clamp frames-then use regular backing
but get a couple of those 'wedge' clamps-the WACF hat frame
comes with them but get larger ones, bend the 'ears' down so
they don't get hung up and use them to hold the collar in place.
I did that with tote bags before we got the speed frame system.
5) double check needle alignment to the needleplate, and use a
new needle-in case there is a burr on the end.

I know the Amaya will sew on leather so a dog collar shouldn't
be too difficult-you just have to figure out all the variables that
contribute to broken threads.
