Jessica,
I did not know this and I agree that it makes no sense at all. The one thing
I can suggest if you want to send someone a gift in another country is to
purchase a Visa or another credit card company gift card if your out at a
mall or somewhere that cells them. This way you could use the gift card just
like a credit card to send or buy a gift for someone in another country.
Kind of a hastle but a work around anyway.

Maybe I would, but I can't because 2 of apple's other policies are in the
way. One, you can not send gifts to someone unless you are in the same
country as the person you want to send the gift to and 2, you can't buy
gifts with iTunes cards. You can buy stuff for your own devices with iTunes
cards, but if you want to gift someone money or buy them and send them an
app, you have to have a credit card. I do not have a credit card because I
am only
18 years old and I am sure I am sure I am not the only one without a credit
card. I wish apple would let us send gifts between countries and I wish you
could buy gifts with iTunes cards. I mean, what if you are too young to have
a credit card and you have family or friends in another country you want to
gift an app or song to or send them some money for use in the iTunes store
or something?

I am on that ******fixed income for other disabilities as well. I have
fibromyalgia and degenerative muscle weakness. By the time I finish college,
I may not be able to work anyway. But if ten dollars is not that much, you
are welcome to send it to me as a gift. I had to get my medicine over having
money in the account for stupid policies like this.

Folks, I hate to say this, but what Apple's doing is just not that
unreasonable. As many have pointed out, if you don't have a credit or debit
card, buy a gift card and set up your account.
You can get a gift card for $10, that's just not that much money.
Once you've done that, you can do whatever upgrading and purchasing of free
apps you need to do. I'm sorry, but I'm blind and I've worked my whole
****** life. Right now I'm working a job that I hate, but at least it's a
job. If you're on a fixed income, maybe start thinking about how to change
that.

Sorry if this is bitchy, but I see no reason *at *all why someone who is
blind has to be on a fixed income.

The problem is that many disabled people are on fixed incomes.
For example, I run out of money long before the month is through.
I should still be able to get free apps, download apps I already purchased
but are not currently on my device, and schedule genius bar appointments.
Without money, I have no access to even change the password on the lock
screen because the Apple password is essentially broken until their or is
money available. Buying a gift card to leave money on is essentially the
same as requiring a deposit, a bad move on Apple's part imo.
And please don't lecture me on budgeting. I get $700 each month and somehow
don't qualify for food stamps.

 Hi,

I'm totally confused. How would Apple Know if you have money in your bank
account or not?

Even if you are setting up a genius bar appointment, getting a free app, or
updating those you already have, it won't work if you don't have a valid
card. This means if you use a debit card, if you run out of money, you
cannot do anything requiring an Apple password. I I am going to complain to
Apple about this and I hope many will join me in this. Not everyone has a
credit card and not everyone has available funds all the time.
