Good for you! I tended to be a bit complacent having worked most of my
life; but I also know folks over there that are stuck in out of the way
places and can't even get to a store independently and depends on folks
coming round and taking them in their car. They barely make doctors
appointments and lives very hand to mouth mostly on the kindness of others
and occasional duty calls from the nearest son. I've been known to send
little boxes of luxuries from here to help along a bit. So: those that
can, usually do and will; and the rest we can empathise with, dependence is
frustrating and depressing at two levels.
We had a message on here quite recently where the individual hadn't got
independent control of there own income.

It's easy to take for granted, but when I stop and think about it, feel
amongst the fortunate in these respects.

RobH.

Folks, I hate to say this, but what Apple's doing is just not that
unreasonable. As many have pointed out, if you don't have a credit or debit
card, buy a gift card and set up your account. You can get a gift card for
$10, that's just not that much money. Once you've done that, you can do
whatever upgrading and purchasing of free apps you need to do. I'm sorry,
but I'm blind and I've worked my whole ****** life. Right now I'm working a
job that I hate, but at least it's a job. If you're on a fixed income,
maybe start thinking about how to change that.

Sorry if this is bitchy, but I see no reason *at *all why someone who is
blind has to be on a fixed income.
