I'd take a label and the card to the shop and ask where it could be safely 
placed.

    following a recent email we received about credit card fraud in which there 
was a warning about people being given back a substitute card after paying a 
bill, you could stick a penfriend label on the back of the card with any 
information yu want. If the person tries to remove it and stick it on the 
substitute card, you would feel it had been tampered with. you could instantly 
check it.
