Hi Chris,

But the library is only a database. Just lift the files onto an external
drive.

All the best

Steve

Ar, as I've set it to copy stuff to the iTunes library. Thanks anyway.

Hi Chris,

No need to back up the library itself, just back up the actual files.
Then
if Itunes goes belly-up, just reimport the files to your library. If you
have rea ctivated your Itunes, then your purchases will play just fine.
The
library is only a database of shortcuts to the files, not the files
themselves.

Al the best

ssteve

Hi Chris,

That won't back up the library, only the files that belong to it. You
would
have to reimport them to the library, but this is of course, possible.

All the best

Steve

Hi Chris

Thanks for that. So to get it into iTunes on the desktop would I copy
and
past it or import the folder?

Barbara, I don't think anyone has replied, including me, because you
just

simply cannot do it. The only way I can think of is to copy your whole
iTunes folder found under your profile's music folder (mine is
c:\users\Chris\music\iTunes) and paste the folder onto an external
device. Then plug your external device onto your desktop and do it the
other way round. I'm sorry for not replying, and I'm also sorry to hear
you've had no responses. I believe the guys at T&T won't be back till
January 5, so guess that doesn't help either. Anyway, hope this helps
and

good luck.

I know there is a list for users of iTunes etc, but I have tried on
there

and reeceived no replies, so I am trying this list in the hope that
there

are members here not on that other list.

I am trying to move my iTunes library from a laptop to a desktop. I
want
to do this by backing up the library to an external USB drive, however
when I try to back up it is asking me to insert a disc with apparently
no

option to change the back up location. Is this possible and if so, how
do

I go about it?
