Graham, we are going to get someone sighted to try to help us. We are looking
at a couple with several presets, this feature I think being crucial to
standing any chance of navigation without sight. As long as I can get Sky
Radio on it, I'd be a very happy bunny.

well the RNIB trial is basically over. They have asked us all questions by
way of a telephone interview way back at the end of October or the beginning of
November so the results of this should be available at any time I would say.
being That's all well and good but as I said in a previous message, I really
don't think the primary focus of this trial was Internet Radio at all. Myself
and I suspect many others will be interested to know if you do find any kind of
product that is reasonably usable. With so many stations to choose from though
I must say I am not hopeful. Even if you get audio bleeps when navigating,
there is too much for anyone other than the most abnormally obsessive to
remember.

  Cheers

Graham, I agree with you, which is why we are looking at Internet radios to
see how accessible or otherwise they are. I've got a couple to check out, and
if I get anything out of one of them, I'll post with any comments. I like
listening to stations abroad sometimes, and sometimes like to have the music on
in the background while I am using the PC, rather than have to juggle with
music and JAWS at the same time. But I've a rotten feeling that if we wait for
something completely accessible to come along from these so-called trials,
we'll be on the next two or three generations of technology, and it won't
matter a jot.

this is BBC listen again and BBC live tuner along with a program that
picks up a few other stations in the UK. This is a good desktop program also
that I think no computer user, sighted or otherwise should be without. Like
many others though I don't want to have to be tied to a PC all the time to
listen to radio. This is perhaps psychological as much as anything as I use
the computer much of the time for work so it is nice to get away from it.

        Hi Jackie.

        If you go to:

and click on the link titled:
Download Web IE Now, and click it you'll get the installation for this
prog.

The download contains a number of smaller programmes such as BBC Live
Radio: BBC Listen Again: Accessible Podcather and RSS Reader along with a
couple of other smaller things.

When you are installing you get an opertunity to check the programmes
you want and leave the ones you don't want. For example, I use Internet
Explorer and Google so I did not install the Web Browser.

Need any further assistance, don't hesitate to contact me.

        Best wishes.

          Hi All

I know this thread was covered a few months ago, but could some kind
person please tell me the name of the accessible Internet radio that is
currently being trialed, or is allegedly available to purchase. I know
Soundings did a piece about it, but I can't locate it, and haven't heard since
whether anything further has emerged.

          Many thanks.

          Jackie
